[Trilinos-Announce] Considering Deprecating Some Trilinos Packages

Hi all,

The Trilinos leadership is considering deprecating a few Trilinos packages in the 2023 Fiscal Year:

Domi, Komplex, Moertel, Pike, Rythmos, and TriKota.

These packages do not have any current development and appear to have little to no usage, and we would like to remove the costs associated with maintaining any software that is longer used.

Before proceeding with plans for this, we wanted to ask the Trilinos community if there are any applications that are still using these packages, and if so, discuss possible options moving forward (e.g., switching to other packages, utilizing frozen Trilinos versions, …).

To be clear, by deprecation we mean in future versions of Trilinos (e.g., 15.0 in 2023 and later) these packages would no longer be part of Trilinos.  These packages would still be available in older versions (<15.0), but no support, maintenance or bug fixes would be provided.

So please let us know if you are still using one of these packages and/or if you have any questions.
